Good size tables that give you plenty of room which was perfect because we ordered a lot. The hobo omelette was really good and the Bread Pudding French Toast was an excellent choice. We got seated right away and the server who took our orders was so polite and got our orders right. Their menu here is HUGE. Love the fact that you can order breakfast anytime of the day. I got the Chicken Sausage Scramble and we shared the Bread Pudding French Toast. The food came out quick. Our food tasted delicious. The portions here are huge so come hungry. “ What can I say- I think discovering Black Bear Diners have been one of the best places I have discovered. I loved the options available, the plates and portions are huge and the service has always been great- even during busy times. I came to El Cajon to visit family and had a great time. Even with a young toddler and a person in a wheelchair they were very accommodating and were able to fit a large party. Also- they had an unlimited Ice Coffee available and I was able to take my last cup to go. I just wish there was one closer to home, but maybe it's a blessing in disguise because I would probably only eat there. ”
“ Cute place for breakfast. We happened to be close by to have our car serviced and needed to kill time. Ended up at Black Bear Diner. The decor is cozy with a cabin feel and bears everywhere. Portions were huge and food was tasty. And we loved that the food was out quickly after ordering. I was too full to try a pie but next time I will have to order to go because they all looked so good! ”
“ Wow! Is an understatement. What a hidden treasure in California. I had first heard about this place from family and decided to check it out upon our spring vacation. I've seen pictures of the portion sizes and yes it is as they say. It was a wonderful experience from walking in and being seated in a relaxing diner setting and the food was exceptional! I thoroughly enjoyed my selection and was not in the slightest disappointed! Ordering a nice taco salad that could literally feed a party of four! The shell was delicious and the service overall for my family and It deserves nothing less than a five star review. The breakfast was portions were huge and just as tasty leaving all of us taking leftovers later to enjoy at the hotel. Can't wait to return to try other dishes very soon & will keep this place in mind when traveling. I highly recommend this spot to try if you have never been, it felt like home. ”

“ I found this place on Yelp and I was thinking about what to eat for dinner. I saw this place and tried to take a glance at the menu and there were a million things for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and even mouthwatering desserts. The service was great. They were fast and kind, and were checking up every little bit to make sure I was satisfied. I was really shocked about how fast they were because they were really fast considering My brother, sister, mother and I all ordered a lot. The decor and ambiance is really cool and it is kinda cold to make it feel like you're in the mountains. The food was delicious and it was so good I went the next day. ( Definitely coming back) ”
“ Cute restaurant theme! We were in the area and decided to go here for dinner. The restaurant is decorated like a cabin with a black bear theme. The service was great with a very friendly hostess, waiter, and manager. All came over to our table to check on us throughout our meal. We ordered the tri-tip steak and shrimp combo and a pancakes dish. It was a lot of food with big portions. Food was good too! ”
“ Been here multiple times and I've never had a bad experience. From the food to the service, everything has always been exceptional. You walk in and feel as if you're in a country diner located in the mountains somewhere. The inside is cozy, welcoming, and decorated in a woodsy bear theme. The staff is friendly, the food portions are huge and delicious, the prices are reasonable, and it has a comforting, relaxing atmosphere. I've only had their breakfast, so I can't speak for their lunch and dinner. But if it is anything like their breakfast, I'm sure portions are huge, and the food is good. My favorite breakfast item is their build your own breakfast. I order the sweet cream waffle (yum), eggs, and bacon. Their coffee is good, and I like the fact that they offer vanilla and hazelnut creamers in addition to half & half. Nice touch. Worth trying =) ”
